Shahab Hosseini receives French Legion of Honour

Multiple award-winning actor Shahab Hosseini has received French National Order of the Legion of Honour during a ceremony held in the Embassy of France in Tehran.  

At the ceremony, which was held on Thursday morning, Hosseini was bestowed Legion of Honour by French ambassador to Tehran Philippe Thiébaud.

French Legion of Honour is given to artists for their artistic or literary creativity as well as their contribution to the art and literature in France and in the world.

A number of cultural figures from around the world were also present at the ceremony.

Other popular Iranian recipients of French Legion of Honour include Mohammad-Reza Shajarian (vocalist), Abbas Kiarostami (filmmaker), Asghar Farhadi (filmmaker), Leila Hatami (actress), Shahram Nazeri (vocalist), Pari Saberi (drama and theatre director) and Mohammad-Ali Sepanlou (poet).  

Shahab Hosseini is the most prestigious Iranian actor who is also internationally well-known. He is the only actor in the Middle East who succeeded to win the Best Actor Award from the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and the Silver Bear Award from the 61st Berlin International Film Festival.
